Forest technology students at Pennsylvania College of Technology's Schneebeli Earth Science Center received some beneficial information from visiting industry professionals this past week. Robert Hansen, a Penn State Cooperative Extension forester, provided a training session, "Timber, the IRS & You," on Tuesday for students in Professor Dennis F. Ringling's Forest Land Management class.

Fundraising efforts by Pennsylvania College of Technology's Student Government Association have resulted in another scholarship award for a returning student. Justin A. Ball, of Sandy Ridge, accepted the Student Leader Legacy Scholarship award at the 2008-09 Student Activities Awards Banquet on April 29. Ball is a graduate of Philipsburg-Osceola Senior High School.

A team of 14 Pennsylvania College of Technology students finished third overall and placed in 12 categories at the recent Mid-Atlantic States Intercollegiate Woodsmen's Meet at Allegany College of Maryland. The IEEE student branch at Pennsylvania College of Technology attended the 2009 IEEE Student Activities Conference hosted by Youngstown University in Ohio, where it took second place in one of various intercollegiate competitions.

Three sophomores and two graduates in the aviation maintenance technology major at Penn College attended the 2009 Heli-Expo held Feb. 22-24 in Anaheim, Calif.. Attending were students Nathaniel A. Just days from its Thursday deadline and impressively at 85 percent of its lofty goal, a Penn College student organization got a pep talk from Williamsport Mayor Gabriel J. Campana as it continues its food drive to aid the area's needy. The mayor attended a Students in Free Enterprise meeting, applauding the group for working so diligently for the economic betterment of its neighbors.

Winners in the You Be the Judge competition, in which the Penn College community was enlisted to choose among the eye-catching craftsmanship of students in the School of Construction and Design Technologies' masonry emphasis, have been announced.
