Each day, 22 American veterans commit suicide. Penn College and its student, staff and faculty veterans are proud to join Mission 22, a vital campaign that calls attention to that tragic statistic and provides hope to those suffering on the homefront. Demonstrating its desire to help keep the community healthy, the Student Nurses’ Association at Pennsylvania College of Technology recently led a hat, glove and scarf drive to benefit clients of The New Love Center in Jersey Shore. The center provides weekday lunches, a food pantry and other services in the Jersey Shore area.
Daniel G. Curtin, a manufacturing engineering technology major from Berwick, has been chosen as the February Student of the Month at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Affiliated with the Bison Battalion, the Bucknell University-based ROTC program that includes Penn College, Curtin served two years as captain of the Color Guard team and one term as president of Cadet Council.

Enrolling in the exercise science major at Penn College proved to be the right prescription for Zachary N. Austin, who sought to develop skills he could use to help people. Officially recognized by the National Strength and Conditioning Association, the two-year major prepares graduates for a variety of rewarding careers and enhances their academic preparation for advanced degrees.

A student in the baking and pastry arts major at Pennsylvania College of Technology was awarded a $3,500 scholarship from the Pennsylvania Farm Show Scholarship Foundation. Paige E. Pearson, of Williamsburg, was among 28 Farm Show Scholarship recipients. Her award was presented Jan. 12 at the Farm Show by Scott Sechler, owner of Bell & Evans, and Pennsylvania Rep. Judy Ward, R-Blair County.
