The past week's "Yell(ow) It Out" basketball games against Wells College gave the Penn College community an opportunity to watch its NCAA Division III Wildcats in action while engaging in discussion of suicide prevention.

Students in four majors at Pennsylvania College of Technology will benefit from a recent donation by a prominent electrical engineering and automation company. Phoenix Contact delivered approximately $35,500 worth of programmable logic controller components to be integrated into the college’s soon-to-be renovated PLC labs.

Dream Week, in which Penn College and its community collaborators practice the teachings of Martin Luther King Jr., featured a number of events designed to effect positive change on campus and beyond.

Network affiliates covered the local Martin Luther King Jr. observance, which included a Penn College-hosted Peace Walk and rally, as well as service projects at local nonprofits. The reports, prepared by Newswatch 16's Kristina Papa and Eyewitness News' Morgan Parrish, aired at various times on Monday, calling attention to the civic spirit of the campus community.

The first floor of Madigan Library is overflowing with imaginative creations by Pennsylvania College of Technology students: “Old Books/New Lives: The Art of Upcycling,” an exhibit of “novel” artwork, is on display through Feb. 28. The library and The Gallery at Penn College invited students, faculty and staff to upcycle a selection of old books into creative art objects.

Culinary arts technology student Mark T. Kriner Jr., of Williamsport, was looking for a way to give time to his community during Pennsylvania College of Technology’s winter break, while he had some to spare. He found that opportunity at Williamsport’s Antioch Baptist Church, where he contributed not only his time but the skills he is pursuing as a student.

Additional funding from The Donald B. and Dorothy L. Stabler Foundation of Harrisburg will help qualified transfer students enrolling at Pennsylvania College of Technology achieve their educational objectives.
