A formal event at the Pennsylvania Governor’s Residence was the destination for eight exceptional Pennsylvania College of Technology hospitality students, who were given the opportunity to showcase their skills and work alongside the residence’s executive chef.

Pennsylvania College of Technology held its Fall 2017 graduation ceremony at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, in the Community Arts Center, closing out the calendar year with a seasonal observance of academic achievement. The student speaker was Garrett Davis Corneliussen, of Hickory, North Carolina, who received a Bachelor of Science degree in welding and fabrication engineering technology.

Pennsylvania College of Technology presented student achievement awards to its Fall 2017 graduates. A commencement ceremony was held Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Community Arts Center, Williamsport. The award winners, their hometowns and academic majors are: President's Award, presented for leadership and service to the college: Elizabeth L. Landis, Columbia, emergency management technology.

When five Pennsylvania College of Technology nursing students provided a briefing on their study abroad course at a weeklong, volunteer-led medical clinic in rural Guatemala, chief among the lessons they learned were gratitude and patience.

Pennsylvania College of Technology announced winners of its Fall Food Show, held Dec. 1 at the college. Earning the Chef Eugene Mattucci Best of Show Award was the student duo of Ashley R. Potrzebowski, of Williamsport, and Kelsie F. Thomas, of Darby, for their “Beer & Pub Style Christmas” platter and charcuterie board.

One hundred percent of Pennsylvania College of Technology’s 2017 surgical technology graduates passed the national Certified Surgical Technologist Examination on their first attempt. The group graduated in August and took the exam the same month.

Graduates of Pennsylvania College of Technology’s nursing majors exceeded state and national performances in passing the national board examinations required for licensure. Penn College offers degrees for those preparing to enter the field as a registered nurse and for those pursuing a practical nursing license.

Pennsylvania College of Technology recently recognized 13 first-year students who received Penn College NOW scholarships. The recipients completed Penn College courses during high school as part of the college’s Penn College NOW dual-enrollment program. The group was honored during an Oct. 27 reception.
