Pennsylvania College of Technology’s rich history of turning today’s eager learners into the highly skilled workforce of tomorrow will be on ample display during an Oct. 27 Open House. The college will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for prospective students and their families to delve into scores of bachelor’s, associate and certificate programs.

The Penn College Business Club recently made and sold 100 apple dumplings to benefit survivors of Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas. The hurricane struck the island nation on Sept. 1, leaving 70,000 people in need of immediate humanitarian relief after high winds and waves combined to destroy homes and infrastructure.

As part of Homecoming and Parent & Family Weekend activities, Pennsylvania College of Technology celebrated its new synthetic turf field – “UPMC Field” – and a host of other recent enhancements to its athletic complex, including a new entrance gate, press box and scoreboard.

The fourth annual Homecoming and Parent & Family Weekend (Oct. 4-6) provided another exhaustive opportunity for alumni, current students and families to (re)connect.

The Medical Imaging Club has been reactivated this semester and is off to a good start after its first meeting attracted 53 radiography and pre-radiography students. The group elected officers and planned a variety of fun learning activities. One of those is a “Case of the Week” contest that invites anyone on campus to participate.

Energy fuels our everyday lives and flows into our conversations, yet many of us struggle with this complex subject. Topics such as peak oil, carbon dioxide emissions, fracking, renewables, batteries, pipelines and nuclear power are much talked about and debated.

The library subscribes to the company's Films on Demand database, offering instructional access to streaming videos from such acclaimed networks as PBS, National Geographic and the BBC.
