Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Construction Management Association was a top finisher in the Associated Builders and Contractors annual Construction Management Competition, held Feb. 23-27 in Las Vegas as part of the organization’s annual convention. The six-student team represented the college in a field of 34 colleges and universities, most of them much larger, and earned first place in three of four categories: estimating, project management and safety. A campus tradition since 2009, the Student Government Association’s annual Silent Auction is set for noon to 4 p.m., Friday, March 21, with online bidding through BidPal One. Beginning Thursday, auction items can be viewed via the online site, and they can also be seen in-person in the Bush Campus Center lobby beginning at noon on Friday.

Although Penn College students were on Spring Break last week, their caring efforts still made an impact in the local community, as the Office of Student Engagement’s Spring Break Donation Initiative delivered gifts to four local nonprofit organizations. The items were made possible by Penn College students who have worked on various service projects throughout the Spring Semester, including creating care kits and homemade dog toys.

An iconic antique vehicle restored by Pennsylvania College of Technology students received high honors at a recent prestigious car show in Coral Gables, Florida. Tucker No. 1013, a 1948 vehicle, won the Best in Class Award for the American Dream Collection at Moda Miami. Held on the grounds of the historic Biltmore Hotel, Moda Miami is considered one of the world’s premier car events, attracting luxury brand enthusiasts, collectors and industry professionals.

Skiing, snowboarding, camping, mountain biking, fishing, hiking – these students are having all the fun! The Penn College Outdoors Club is among new student organizations established during the 2024-25 academic year. The group aspires to explore various outdoor activities during the different seasons of the year, instructing members on new techniques related to outdoor recreation and sports, and creating an environment where students can learn skills that will enrich their lives.

Raising awareness and encouraging campus community members to register as organ donors is at the heart of the “Gift of Life College Challenge,” a project being pursued on the Penn College campus through April 28. Penn College nursing students, Wellness Committee and other partners kicked off the initiative by distributing small bags of Hershey’s Kisses and organ donor information

Penn College’s Fitness Center held a Student Member Appreciation Day. “We wanted to show our appreciation to students who regularly use the Fitness Center by rewarding them with some goodies,” said Gayle M. Kielwein, coordinator of student engagement operations. “Treats were pina colada and strawberry smoothies, various ‘healthier’ snacks, and some awesome giveaways.”

Wildcats are not shy about showing their affections – especially when it comes to food and bingo! Among the mid-February events captured by Penn College student photographer Anna E. Reed: a “Sweetheart Pajama Party” and a “Pack the Pantry” Bingo.
