UGI Utilities Inc., a company serving more than 648,000 natural gas and electric customers in northern, eastern and central Pennsylvania, has established a scholarship fund at Pennsylvania College of Technology. The UGI Utilities Scholarship will provide annual awards of $1,000, beginning in the fall of 2013, to distinguished students while the fund is building to fully endowed status.

Pennsylvania College of Technology’s School of Hospitality will host “An Evening of Pennsylvania Food, Beer and Wine” on Nov. 14, offering opportunities to learn more about the pairing of fine beer and wine with food and to benefit the Peter Hellermann Scholarship Fund. Scheduled at 6:30 p.m.

Seven students in Pennsylvania College of Technology’s construction majors have been awarded a total of $14,500 in varied scholarships, a significant reminder of employers’ support for the college’s sought-after “degrees that work.” “It is a testament to the industries that have provided funding for the educational opportunities of our students,” said Marc E.

Ten students representing six campus organizations have been voted onto the 2012 Penn College Homecoming court, with balloting continuing this week to determine who is designated as the ultimate royalty. The top five male and female students have advanced from an original field of 41 on the basis of donations to their respective canisters at the Bush Campus Center information desk.

A member of the Pennsylvania College of Technology Foundation Board of Directors and his wife have created a scholarship at the college. Ray Mattie, a 1984 alumnus, and his wife, Michelle, established the Mattie Family Scholarship at Penn College.

Martin Memorial Scholarship to pay tribute to his wife of nearly 42 years, who died July 10. Plans are for the scholarship fund to be endowed so that awards can be made in perpetuity.

A Williamsport man who established a scholarship at Pennsylvania College of Technology last year recently added to the fund. Ryan A. English presented a check to Penn College to add to the Marcellus Measurement Scholarship Fund, which is growing toward endowment. Once the fund reaches endowment level, it will become a perennial source of scholarship funds.

Faculty and staff in Pennsylvania College of Technology’s School of Health Sciences recently established an endowed scholarship fund to benefit students in the school.

The Chester D. Schuman Scholarship, honoring a man who served 34 years as admissions director for Pennsylvania College of Technology and its immediate forerunner, Williamsport Area Community College, has been established at the college.
