Leah R. Tressler, a group leader in the Robert and Maureen Dunham Children’s Learning Center at Pennsylvania College of Technology, recently received a master’s degree from California University of Pennsylvania. Tressler graduated with honors with a Master of Education with a concentration in early childhood education.

“How Books Came to America: The Rise of the American Book Trade,” by John Hruschka, assistant professor of English-composition in the School of Integrated Studies at Pennsylvania College of Technology, was published recently by the Penn State University Press.

Two members of the full-time faculty at Pennsylvania College of Technology were honored with teaching awards during commencement ceremonies held May 11-12 at the Community Arts Center, Williamsport. Excellence in Teaching Award winner Daniel K. Christopher with Pennsylvania College of Technology President Davie Jane Gilmour.

Pennsylvania College of Technology on Thursday presented Distinguished Staff and Part-Time Teaching awards, celebrated faculty members for their excellence in advising students, inducted new members of its Quarter Century Club and honored employees retiring in the 2011-12 academic year.

Faculty members from Penn College's School of Natural Resources Management recently co-chaired two-day SkillsUSA state competitions in Pennsylvania and New York. Bill P. Kilcoyne Jr. and Chris S. Pennsylvania College of Technology's Board of Directors has approved "professor emeritus" status for Phillip D. Landers, retired professor of business administration/management. Landers retired in August after 43 years as a faculty member at Penn College and its predecessor institution, Williamsport Area Community College.

Students in MTH 156 (Mathematics in Non-European Cultures) presented their study abroad projects in the Bush Campus Center TV Lounge this past week. The group traveled to Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula and studied the Mayan civilization. The Penn College community is welcome to sign up for next year's overland adventure through the rain forests and lowlands of the Mayan world.
