A Pennsylvania College of Technology professor recently published an essay and was chosen to read papers at conferences for international organizations. Mark D. Noe, professor of English and composition, published an essay titled "Cather's 'O Pioneers!'" in the Spring 2006 issue of The Explicator.

Dennis R. Dorward, an associate professor of building construction management at Pennsylvania College of Technology, recently earned a doctorate from the Indiana State University. Dorward, whose research was in construction project scheduling, was awarded a Ph.D. in technology management with a construction management specialization.

William Ma, professor of mathematics at Pennsylvania College of Technology, recently had a research paper "Euclidean Properties of Hyperbolic Polar Coordinates" published in an international, peer-reviewed journal. Ma's paper appears in Computational Methods and Function Theory, Volume 6, 2006. The journal, which publishes original research papers in complex analysis, is issued annually.

Information Technology Services reminds faculty of its "bubble-test" scanning services and three stand-alone test scanners available across campus.Faculty wishing to take advantage of ITS scanning services can bring completed General Purpose Answer sheets to the Computer Center (SASC, Room 2072) between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

A Pennsylvania College of Technology professor recently presented a paper at the Pennsylvania Economic Association's annual conference. Abdul B. Pathan, professor of economics, presented a paper titled "Using Current Events to Teach Principles of Economics." The paper will be published later this year in the conference proceedings.

Pennsylvania College of Technology has hired Suzanne T. Stopper as associate vice president for business affairs/controller. Stopper, who begins her duties Sept. 6, will be the chief accounting officer for Penn College, administering all accounting, financial record-keeping, cash management and investment, and budget functions.

I am not certain about all of you, but to consider we are halfway to the year 2007 is rather exciting, a bit daunting and, yet, in some ways, amazing.
