The National Science Foundation has recognized Pennsylvania College of Technology’s commitment to tomorrow’s workforce by awarding the institution a grant intended to bolster the pipeline of information assurance/cyber defense professionals. The $438,391 CyberCorps grant will facilitate the college’s efforts to excite high school students about rewarding careers in cyber security.

Saudi Arabian students at Pennsylvania College of Technology recently organized a crosscultural presentation to familiarize the campus community with their homeland. One year after their initial program – which won two honors at the 2015 Student Activities Awards banquet – the Saudi Student Organization returned to the college’s Thompson Professional Development Center for a follow-up event.

Six Pennsylvania College of Technology plastics students enriched their education by attending the Society of Plastics Engineers 32nd Annual Blow Molding Conference in Atlanta earlier this month. The plastics and polymer engineering technology majors participated in several technical presentations related to blow molding and networked with potential employers throughout the three-day event.

Three Pennsylvania College of Technology faculty members shared their expertise at a major information technology gathering. Lisa R. Bock and Anita R. Wood, assistant professors of computer information technology, and Denise S. Leete, associate professor of web and interactive media, presented at the COMMON 2016 Annual Meeting and Exposition in New Orleans.

Two Pennsylvania College of Technology welding students are recipients of a national industry scholarship. Stephanie M. Puckly, a welding and fabrication engineering technology major from Spartansburg, and Gavin P. Bachman, a welding technology major from Slatington, each received a $2,500 Air Products Welding Scholarship, provided by the Air Products Foundation.

Anthony D. Di Liberto Anthony D. Di Liberto, a first-year student in Penn College’s automotive restoration technology major, is one of three students nationwide vying for tuition assistance from the RPM Foundation.

The Pennsylvania College of Technology Woodsmen’s Team traveled to the Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina to compete in the 21st Annual John Palmer Intercollegiate Woodsmen’s Meet on Oct. 1. This is the second trip to North Carolina in as many years for the team, which is part of the college’s Forestry Club.
