Engineering design faculty members at Pennsylvania College of Technology have established a scholarship for students enrolled in computer aided design majors at the college.

Pennsylvania College of Technology’s computer aided drafting technology major recently was recertified by the American Design Drafting Association. ADDA is an organization for designers, drafters, architects, illustrators and technical artists.

The Pennsylvania College of Technology contingent at the recent National SkillsUSA Conference in Kansas City, Mo., produced four medalists: two second-place finishers and two third-place winners. An associate professor at Pennsylvania College of Technology authored a paper, “Transdisciplinary Approaches for Culturally Appropriate Boat Design,” that was published in the Work Based Learning e-Journal International. Thomas E. Ask’s paper presented findings from research conducted while he was a visiting professor of mechanical engineering at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2009.

  Students in the computer aided design majors at Pennsylvania College of Technology concluded a year's worth of design work and gained some appreciative comments from students outside the class when they tested their projects on a Penn College parking lot. The students designed pedal-powered, four-wheeled "quad cycles" with frames made of 1-inch PVC pipe.
