Joe Simon, a junior guard-forward on the Penn College men's basketball team, has been awarded Penn State University Athletic Conference Honorable Mention honors. Simon, a business management student from Renovo, scored 382 points during the Wildcats' 18-12 season that included a sixth-place finish in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association national tournament.

A family known for its popular businesses in downtown Williamsport will be providing financial-aid support for students in Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Hospitality. Siblings Maria, Fred and Francis Daniele have established the Daniele Family Scholarship Fund at Penn College. The endowed fund will be a permanent source of scholarship awards for students.

Collin A. Zimmerman, a junior in the information technology: web and applications development concentration, recently was named to serve as the 2009-10 regional director of the Central Atlantic Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls. Zimmerman, of Lancaster, was elected to the position this past weekend during a regional business meeting at Lock Haven University.

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, in which Pennsylvania College of Technology students and community volunteers from The Salvation Army annually help hundreds of low-income local residents prepare their returns, soon will resume for the 2008 tax season. The Internal Revenue Service's free program will be offered in Room 102 of Penn College's Madigan Library from 4-6 p.m.
