More than 75% of employers nationwide rate the job market for the Class of 2024 as “good to excellent.” Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Spring Career Fair confirmed that healthy prognosis, delivered by a National Association of Colleges and Employers survey. More than 430 companies, offering thousands of jobs and internships in a range of fields, met with 1,333 students throughout the Feb. 27-28 event, divided between the college’s Bardo Gymnasium and Field House.

Two Whiting-Turner Contracting Co. employees visited classes recently in architecture and heating, ventilation & air conditioning engineering technology to introduce students to career paths with the company’s virtual design & construction operations group. That team constructs buildings virtually before they are built physically, explained 2011 construction management alumnus Sean Scully, who is a project manager for Whiting-Turner, and Brandon Hurlburt, a VDC manager for the company.

Pennsylvania College of Technology graphic design alumni captured nine awards in AIGA Baltimore’s 2023 nationwide Flux Student Design Competition. The seven alumni who were honored created their designs during their senior year and graduated in 2023.

More than 100 dental professionals attended a continuing education event hosted on campus on Friday by Penn College’s Student American Dental Hygienists’ Association. The seminar, titled “Infection Control in Practice,” was led by registered dental hygienist Angelina Marinucci, a clinical education manager for Hu-Friedy Mfg. Co., a leader in dental instrument manufacturing, infection prevention and instrument reprocessing.

For the second consecutive year, Pennsylvania College of Technology physician assistant graduates have bested the national first-attempt pass rate for the Physician Assistant National Certifying Exam. Ninety-four percent of Penn College’s Class of 2023 graduates – who completed their degrees in August – passed the exam on their first attempt, while 100% of the 2022 graduating class passed on their first try. The nationwide first-attempt pass rate for both years is 92%.

Groff Tractor & Equipment is the latest Corporate Tomorrow Maker to visit the Schneebeli Earth Science Center to showcase its new equipment and technology to Pennsylvania College of Technology’s diesel, heavy equipment and power generation students. GT&E brought along a new John Deere 320 P-Tier backhoe and also engaged students in a classroom session on connected support and a diesel trivia contest.

Corneliussen is the founding engineer for manufacturing at Reframe Systems, a company that aims to build attainable net-zero modular homes at massive scale.
