Illustrator Brian Lutz returned to his alma mater for two days of inspirational exchanges. The 2008 advertising art grad engaged students in hands-on work in two Illustration classes, delivered a public lecture in Penn’s Inn and answered questions during a reception in The Gallery at Penn College, where his “Full Circle” exhibit in on display through Oct. 4. It was in the gallery and his classes that Lutz was first inspired to pursue a career in illustration, so the exhibit’s title is an apt description.

Pennsylvania College of Technology’s architecture & sustainable design program hosted a dedication on Sept. 9 to celebrate its move to a newly renovated space – on the fourth floor of the George S. Klump Academic Center – that enhances student workspaces and provides room for the growing program to expand its enrollment.

Pennsylvania College of Technology dental hygiene students explored a new world of dental care during a summer visit to the Dominican Republic, where they treated more than 250 children in four villages. “I’ve always wanted to travel, so why not travel and do what I love, which is helping other people be able to smile,” said Alexandra M. Shenk, one of four students in the Global Experience: Oral Healthcare Field Experience class.

The Gallery at Penn College reminds the campus community and public of two opportunities to hear from accomplished illustrator Brian Lutz, a Penn College advertising art graduate. On Tuesday, Sept. 10, Lutz will deliver a 3:30 p.m. lecture in Penn’s Inn, on the second floor of the Bush Campus Center, and a 5:30 p.m. artist's talk in the gallery, on the third floor of The Madigan Library. The gallery talk will occur during a reception (set for 5 to 6 p.m.) celebrating Lutz's "Full Circle" exhibit.

As the Penn College Baja SAE team preps for Baja SAE Michigan, set for Sept. 12-15, enjoy this dynamic, new flashback to Baja SAE Williamsport, the international competition hosted by Pennsylvania College of Technology in mid-May. Created by SAE International, the four-minute video offers highlights of the “adrenaline-fueled excitement” and “action-packed days filled with roaring engines, flying dirt and the spirit of competition.”

Ellyn A. Lester, assistant dean of construction and architectural technologies at Pennsylvania College of Technology, has been named to The 2024 Trailblazers in Building & Infrastructure list, released Monday by City & State PA. “Meet the people helping us work, get around and live better,” the announcement reads. Beau M. Lazzo, a 2017 Penn College construction management graduate, is also included on the list.

Jeffrey L. Erdly, originator of two Pennsylvania College of Technology scholarships and recipient of the college's Distinguished Alumnus Award, has boosted his institutional support with a gift of $500,000 toward an upcoming project on campus. Half of the donation is designated for an endowment that can be used for program materials, scholarships and more; the remaining $250,000 is earmarked for the creation of a materials library at the Carl Building Technologies Center.

On Tuesday, Sept. 10, Lutz will speak at a 3:30 p.m. lecture in Penn’s Inn and a 5 p.m. reception in the gallery. He will also engage with students and faculty in two Illustration classes.
