David R. Cotner has been named assistant dean in the School of Industrial and Engineering Technologies at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Prior to his appointment, Cotner served as department head in the college’s welding department. “We are very pleased to have Dave Cotner join the leadership team in Industrial and Engineering Technologies,” said Paul L.
Kenneth E. Carl During a 36-year career in higher education – more than one-third of the century celebrated during the centennial of Penn College and its predecessors – Kenneth E. Carl tirelessly wore many hats: alumnus, faculty member, president and mentor.
A memorial service will be held Jan. 12 for Steve Hirsch, a retired full-time faculty member in Penn College's Department of Art and Design, who died Friday, Jan. 4. He retired in 2007 as an assistant professor of advertising art after 15 years of teaching in the School of Integrated Studies' Graphic Design program. The service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Pajama Factory, 1307 Park Ave.
The fast-track career ascendancy of enrollees in Penn College's Ford ASSET major, a two-year degree that includes a built-in paid internship with a participating dealer, is on display in the newest addition to the college's YouTube channel. Following a near-monthlong semester break, three Pennsylvania College of Technology winter sports teams are scheduled to return to action Saturday. The women’s and men’s basketball teams host Penn State Greater Allegheny at 1 and 3 p.m., respectively, at Bardo Gymnasium while the wrestling team travels to Alfred (N.Y.) State for a 1 p.m. match with Alfred and 2:30 p.m.
Twenty-nine Pennsylvania College of Technology athletes have received special individual honors thus far during the 2012-13 school year. Through the fall sports seasons and the month of December, 17 Wildcats have received Athlete of the Week honors, as voted on by the college’s athletic staff.
