The Pennsylvania College of Technology Board of Directors on Thursday approved the National Sustainable Structures Center opening a building performance training site in Westmoreland County, authorized the purchase of a property on First Street and ratified a contract for auditing services.

Pennsylvania College of Technology’s National Sustainable Structures Center is adding a training site in Westmoreland County to enhance delivery of building science and energy efficiency training for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Weatherization Assistance Program. A memorial service will be scheduled for Irwin H. Siegel, 2005 recipient of Penn College's Master Teacher Award and a retired professor of business administration/business law, who died Sunday, April 12, at age 66. Siegel, a faculty member from 1998 through the 2007-08 academic year, also was honored with an Excellence in Teaching Award in 2001.

It wasn't remotely on his mind while taking a Mechanical Systems I class in Fall 2011, but a Pennsylvania College of Technology alumnus/employee's plumbing and pipe-fitting skills resulted in fabrication of framework for five EMS airway hoods to be used at Geisinger Medical Center.
