The Pennsylvania College of Technology Board of Directors on Thursday approved a $102.2 million operating budget and a total college budget of $144.4 million for 2010-11. The approved budget calls for a 4.81-percent increase in tuition and fees for Pennsylvania residents enrolled at the college. The budget reflects no increase in state funding.

The Sport Literature Association convened on campus Wednesday morning for its 27th annual conference. The conference attracted nearly 50 attendees from across the United States and from four other countries, including program chair Julian Meldon D'Arcy, of the University of Iceland. Local host for the four-day event is Mark D.

Abdul B. Pathan, professor of economics at Pennsylvania College of Technology, recently presented a paper at the Pennsylvania Economic Association annual conference. Pathan's paper, titled "Successful Teaching of Economics Principles to Beginning Students," discussed strategies for preparing lectures and for keeping students motivated throughout the lecture.

Twenty-nine high school students attended Health Careers Camp on Penn College's campus June 16-17. The Health Careers Camp provided students entering grades nine to 12 the opportunity to learn about a variety of health careers and programs offered at the college.

Pennsylvania College of Technology announced the winners of its juried exhibit, "The Art of Education." The exhibit, which remains open through June 27, is a tribute to the talented teachers who inspire creativity and instill an appreciation for art in young people.
