Pennsylvania College of Technology received grants totaling more than $70,000 to award need-based scholarships to students enrolled in its nursing majors. The Pennsylvania Higher Education Foundation awarded two Nursing Education Grants for 2010-11. A $59,455 grant was awarded to aid students pursuing degrees in nursing on the college's main campus in Williamsport.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's early childhood education degree recently earned accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The program received accreditation from the association's Commission on Early Childhood Associate Degree Accreditation in August. The accreditation process included an extensive self-study, as well as an external evaluation.

A triumvirate of industry leaders has included Pennsylvania College of Technology among the institutions to which it will donate collision repair and estimating software.

After the loss of four of his top seven men runners and still one woman runner shy of fielding a complete team, Pennsylvania College of Technology cross-country coach Mike Paulhamus has his work cut out in what he says is a rebuilding season. Pennsylvania College of Technology women's volleyball coach Bambi Hawkins describes her team as young, but one with solid experience and a lot of energy. Her hope is that it is enough not only to produce the squad's eighth-straight winning season, but also its second championship during her 11-year tenure.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's soccer teams open their seasons Wednesday at NCAA Division III Penn State University Abington, the men withnine returnees and high hopes and the women somewhat unsettled.

The Vine Avenue Block Party, held annually for off-campus students as part of Student Activities' PC3 initiative, was hosted Thursday night by Penn College's three Community Assistants (Kattie Heisey, Kyle Mabry and Corey Shank). The Cell Block's Zack Lee was guest DJ, and participants were treated to pizza, wings and kegs of birch beer.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's women's volleyball team opened its season over the weekend by going 1-2 in the Penn State Beaver Volleyball Classic. The Wildcats defeated Penn State Beaver, 19-25, 25-19, 26-24, 25-22; and lost to Ohio State Marion, 25-18, 18-25, 19-25, 22-25; and University of Cincinnati Clermont, 25-23, 22-25, 28-30, 13-25.

Over the past decade, Pennsylvania College of Technology golf teams have excelled on an almost unprecedented level, winning eight conference championships and putting together a win streak that reached 155 before being snapped.
