Twenty-one new Penn College Dual Enrollment teachers, representing 18 schools, recently attended an orientation on campus.
Penn College Dual Enrollment offers Penn College courses to qualified high school students at their high school or career and technology education center, taught by approved high school or CTE teachers during the regular school day. The dual-enrolled students receive full college credit for the coursework.
Penn College works with nearly 70 secondary-school partners across Pennsylvania, and each year, thousands of students earn credits that can be used toward achieving their postsecondary education goals.
Dual enrollment teachers, who facilitate Penn College courses at their high school or CTC, work with a Penn College faculty liaison who provides course materials and ensures that learning objectives and student outcomes for the classes offered through dual enrollment match those of the same classes offered on campus.
The teachers attend yearly professional development conducted by their on-campus faculty liaison, and an orientation their first year.
During the orientation, the teachers learned about the college and the Penn College Dual Enrollment program, received PLATO training and toured labs.
The new dual enrollment teachers will teach five general education courses and 14 technical classes. They represent:
