BAE Systems Inc. has renewed its long-standing support of welding education at Pennsylvania College of Technology by providing a $10,000 grant to the institution. The company has made an annual $10,000 donation since 2019.

Dougherty, senior corporate relations officer. “The company’s consistent investment in our students makes a meaningful impact in their educational journey and career preparation.”

Headquartered in Falls Church, Virginia, BAE Systems Inc. is the U.S. subsidiary of BAE Systems plc, an international defense, aerospace and security company. BAE Systems Inc. is a member of the Heritage Society ($50,000-$99,999) on the Penn College Donor Wall.
“Our York site has built a strong partnership with Pennsylvania College of Technology, and it shows in our workforce. The majority of our welding support technicians are graduates of the college,” said Josh Hedden, strategic operations director and York site lead for BAE Systems. “Welding is critical to the quality and durability of the combat vehicles we build at BAE Systems, and the skill of these technicians directly shapes the strength and reliability of every product we deliver.”
Like its previous donations, the most recent grant will be used to purchase supplies and materials benefiting the 360-plus welding students who receive hands-on experience in a 55,000-square-foot facility. Students may seek a bachelor’s degree in welding & fabrication engineering technology, an associate degree in welding technology or a certificate in welding.
