The SAAC conducted a food drive for The Cupboard as part of the United East Conference’s weeklong “United Feast” food collection initiative.

Penn College was the top collector in the United East Conference's fourth annual "United Feast" food drive, organized by the members of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. The initiative, which ran Jan. 30-Feb. 8, had each of the United East’s 14 member colleges collect canned goods and other nonperishables for local food banks.

Together, the colleges combined to collect 8,247 food items, eclipsing last year's total by almost 1,000 items. Penn College collected the most donations, bringing in 1,307 canned goods and other nonperishables.

"I'm proud that our SAAC and everyone involved at Penn College was able to come together to make such a big impact on our community through the United Feast," said Hunter Gabloff, a member of the Penn College SAAC and the Wildcat men's soccer team. "It is such a big accomplishment for us and shows what our school can do when we come together for a bigger cause."

Items collected by Penn College were donated to The Cupboard, the college’s on-campus student food pantry.

"This is one of our favorite initiatives we put on, and I continue to be blown away by the outcome," said Sam Carges, associate commissioner of the United East. "Our SAAC members have proven why they are not only leaders on their teams but also their surrounding communities."

The United East boasts 14 NCAA Division III full member institutions: Cairn University, Cedar Crest College, Gallaudet University, Keystone College, Lancaster Bible College, Notre Dame of Maryland University, Penn College, Penn State Abington, Penn State Berks, Penn State Brandywine, Penn State Harrisburg, St. Mary's College of Maryland, University of Valley Forge, and Wilson College.
