Penn College names new director of physician assistant program

Pennsylvania College of Technology has appointed Melissa E. Sedor as its physician assistant program director.

As director, Sedor’s primary responsibilities include curriculum development, budget management, faculty and staff supervision, and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards. She began her duties in September.

Sedor, a native of Bloomsburg, brings to the position a vast background in the medical field. She began her professional career as a physician assistant at Geisinger Wyoming Valley before serving in several other positions within the Geisinger Health System and WellSpan Evangelical, Lewisburg.  She joined the Penn College School of Nursing & Health Sciences faculty in 2021 as an instructor in the physician assistant program, where she also assisted with curriculum development and data collection. Her most recent position with the college was as interim director of the program.

Traister, assistant dean of nursing & health sciences. “Her dedication to student success, combined with a strong command of curriculum design and accreditation standards, positions her well to guide the program forward.”

Sedor holds a master’s degree in physician assistant studies from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, and a bachelor’s degree in physician assistant from Marywood University, Scranton.
