Last week in review: Pennsylvania College of Technology men’s and women’s cross-country teams finished third and fifth, respectively, in the United East Conference Championships – and totaled 10 all-conference honors in the process – while men’s and women’s soccer teams each won their UE quarterfinal matches, the women’s volleyball team concluded its first six-win regular season and three-win UE campaign since 2016, earning a postseason berth, and the wrestling team opened its season.
On the horizon: The third-seeded women’s soccer team reached Tuesday’s conference semifinals for the second year in a row, while it will be the fifth-seeded men’s team’s first trip to Wednesday’s semifinals since 2018, and also on Wednesday, the 10th-seeded women’s volleyball team will see its first postseason action since 2013.
MEN’S CROSS-COUNTRY
Last week’s highlights: In the UE Championships on Saturday, Mitchell Campbell, of Riegelsville, placed 12th of 84 in an 8K race in 30:36.12. Also in the team scoring were Chase Ebeling, of Bellefonte, 13th in 30:36.52; Ben Causak, of Lebanon, 18th in 31:13; Holden Furey, of Williamsport, 20th in 31:29; and Aaron Guerrisky, of South Williamsport, 23rd in 31:45.
By virtue of their finishes, Campbell, Ebeling and Causak earned all-conference second-team honors, with Furey, Guerrisky, Ethan Knapp, of Franklin (25th in 31:51.10), and Ben Heym, of West Chester (27th in 31:58.84), on the third team.
Also, Furey was named the UE Runner of the Week for Oct. 20-26 after leading the team to a fourth-place finish in the Lebanon Valley College Last Chance Invitational on Oct. 24.

Last week’s highlights: Alexis Durn, of Spring Mills, placed eighth among 68 runners in a 6K personal-best 26:12 at the conference championships on Saturday. Also, Elaina Brady, of McConnellsburg, was 17th in 27:55; Ellie Miller, of Hughesville, was 23rd in 28:56; Natalie Greiner, of Mount Joy, was 39th in 32:20; Gwynn Johnson, of Staunton, Virginia, was 40th in 32:26; and Adelyn McDermott, of Williamsport, was 41st in a season-best 32:41.
For their efforts, Dern was named to the all-conference first team, Brady to the second team and Miller to the third team. Also, Brady was the Women’s Elite 21 Academic Award winner.

Last week’s highlights: In Saturday’s quarterfinal, Scott Goldfeder, of Mechanicsburg, scored the lone goal in the 77th minute on a penalty kick, and Penn College’s defense held fourth-seeded Notre Dame without a shot on goal in the team’s eighth shutout of the season, and its second back-to-back double-digit win season for the first time since 2013. Justin Crismale, of Glen Gardner, New Jersey, got the win in goal.

Also, Darlington was named the UE Offensive Player of the Week for Oct. 20-26 after she scored five goals during the team’s 3-0-1 week.
