A Pennsylvania College of Technology aviation student is one of 15 nationwide recipients of scholarships awarded at the recent National Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition in Las Vegas.
Liam B. Rosenfield, of Goshen, Connecticut, received the William M. Fanning Maintenance Scholarship. The $2,500 award recognizes individuals who are studying to enter the business aviation maintenance field. Rosenfield is seeking an associate degree in aviation technology and a bachelor’s degree in aviation maintenance technology.
The National Business Aviation Association, through NBAA Charities, offers a variety of scholarships to support the future of aviation. Like other recipients, Rosenfield received complementary registration for the convention and exhibition, which featured thousands of business aviation professionals, more than 800 exhibitors and 50-plus aircraft.
“The conference was an incredible experience,” Rosenfield said. “I had the opportunity to speak with professionals in the aviation industry, including the supervisor of maintenance at FedEx Corp. I was especially impressed by the latest advancements in avionics, as well as innovative designs in turbine engines and propellors.”

“The NBAA conference was the perfect place for Liam to network, get to meet some of the big names in aviation and see what corporate aviation has to offer,” added Ethan M. Miller, aviation maintenance instructor. “I am excited to see what he does moving forward as he is already off to a strong start in a field that demands the best from every technician. Liam is a great student, and it’s amazing to see him already taking advantage of these opportunities.”
After graduating from Penn College, Rosenfield plans to begin a career as an aviation maintenance technician, earn his private pilot’s license and hopes to own his own plane.
