The behind-the-scenes work of paramedics – including a contingent of students from Penn College’s paramedic program – was highlighted in a story that aired on WNEP-TV on Thursday evening.
The ABC affiliate’s Mackenzie Aucker visited the World Series complex to catch up with a few of the nine paramedic students who, in total, will serve 194 hours during the games, which attract thousands of spectators every day. They work and learn alongside certified paramedics from Susquehanna Regional Emergency Medical Services and UPMC emergency medicine physicians.
“It's pretty exciting to see this and to get to see how all of the organizations work together to keep everything running smoothly and taking care of any problems," student Darlene Tobey, of Wellsboro, told Aucker.
Aucker also interviewed student Colleen Haas, of South Williamsport, and UPMC pre-hospital services manager Tim Weaver, a 2011 Penn College graduate.
