Allen describes to Aucker how he organized welding students’ work on the globe, which required about 1,000 feet of round stock.

WNEP-TV’s Mackenzie Aucker experienced the 7-foot-high stainless steel globe that Pennsylvania College of Technology students and faculty fabricated for Little League International. Featured recently on Penn College News, the painstaking project involved over 70 welding students and resulted in an eye-catching sculpture for the Little League World Series complex in South Williamsport.

For her report, Aucker interviewed the two lead faculty members for the initiative: Michael R. Allen, instructor and co-department head of welding, and Roy H. Klinger, instructor and co-department head of collision repair. She also spoke with Brian McClintock, senior communications executive at Little League.

Aucker’s story on the ABC affiliate can be viewed on WNEP's website

Klinger discusses how he shaped the metal cutouts – representing the continents – to fit the contour of the globe.

The sparkling structure is sure to be a popular photo location throughout the 2025 Little League World Series, scheduled for Aug. 13-24.
