GT&E celebrates interns, new hires during signing day

GT&E celebrated the six Penn College students and May graduates who accepted positions with the construction equipment dealer with a “signing day” on campus.

GT&E’s Jeff Oldham, CEO; Daryl Black, chief financial officer; Samantha White, director of human resources; and Lance Bucha, regional operations manager, visited the college’s Schneebeli Earth Science Center to welcome the new additions.

Those joining GT&E for summer internships are Preston J. Barton, of Lebanon, heavy construction equipment technology; Sam J. Dean, of Coudersport, heavy construction equipment technology; and John J. Scarborough, of Loganton, heavy construction equipment technology and diesel technology.

“GT&E is excited to have a great group of interns join the team for the summer months,” said Samantha White, director of human resources. “This year, GT&E has both service and sales interns. The students at Penn College are very well-prepared, trained and professional. The opportunity for young talent to learn hands-on with some of the best in the industry is a valuable asset to their education and future career path. The partnership between Penn College and GT&E provides the opportunity to ensure succession planning and opportunities for young talent to join our team.”

Accepting full positions are May graduates TJ Buck, of Warminster, diesel technology and heavy construction equipment technology; Cristian Olivieri, of Whitehall, heavy construction equipment technology; and Evan M. Westenhoefer, of Fleetwood, heavy construction equipment technology.

GT&E, part of the college’s Corporate Tomorrow Makers program, has supported Penn College students and events since 2005.
The company has sponsored the college’s Diesel Truck & Heavy Equipment Summer Camp for high school students and annual Diesel Competition for students in career and technical education centers; and provided skills stations at the SkillsUSA Pennsylvania diesel competition.

GT&E has donated equipment parts and provided training to college faculty. The company also serves on the college’s Heavy Construction Equipment Technician Emphasis Advisory Committee and is a regular visitor on campus, engaging students in equipment showcases, trivia contests and recruitment events.

GT&E is recognized as a member of the Heritage Society ($50,000 to $99,999) on the college’s Donor Wall.
