Kiewit's Signing Day finds seven Penn College students signing up for exciting summer internships in seven different states. From left are welding quality engineer interns Julia E. Minnicks, Cameron J. Quinn, and Aidan C. Sweeney; and heavy equipment mechanic interns Cael J. Heck, William J. "Billy" Trimbur, Benjamin M. Sayer and Andrew G. Macey.
Kiewit held a Signing Day at Pennsylvania College of Technology's Schneebeli Earth Science Center recently, celebrating seven students who will be interning with the Fortune 500 construction and engineering leader in seven different states.
“We are thankful to the Penn College students, parents and faculty who trusted in us to continue the development of these great young adults," said Gabriel Cambrelen, Kiewit's workforce development manager. "We believe they are some of the best welding engineering and heavy equipment mechanic students in the country, and we fully expect them to succeed in our company. No matter what project and location they will be working in this summer, I am sure they will have fun and learn a lot while doing so. This is just their first step into joining the Kiewit family, and we look forward to the day they hire on full time with us.”
Kiewit's heavy equipment mechanic interns and their assignment locations are: Cael J. Heck, Greenville, Mississippi; Andrew G. Macey, Gillette, Wyoming; Benjamin M. Sayer, Mebane, North Carolina; and William J. "Billy" Trimbur, Houma, Louisiana. The welding quality engineer interns and their assignment locations are: Cameron J. Quinn, Detroit, Michigan; Julia E. Minnicks, Louisville, Kentucky; and Aidan C. Sweeney, Boardman, Oregon.
" ... their education is taking them to places they would not have expected, into careers that are building this country’s infrastructure ..."

Heck, of West Wyoming; Macey, of Latrobe; and Sayer, of Perkiomenville, are enrolled in heavy construction equipment technology. Macey is also enrolled in diesel technology, as is Trimbur, who is also enrolled in electric power generation technology. Quinn, of Chesterfield, New Jersey; Minnicks, of Benton; and Sweeney, of Telford, are enrolled in welding & fabrication engineering technology.
“It is remarkable to see our interns commit to one of the largest engineering and construction companies in North America," said Justin W. Beishline, corporate relations officer. "They are really putting themselves out there, stepping outside of their comfort zone to travel to locations all over the United States on large construction projects. When you see their parents' faces, you see that they are proud that their education is taking them to places they would not have expected, into careers that are building this country’s infrastructure and with a company that values its employees and is dedicated to making a great internship experience. We have given these interns the skills to succeed, and when they come back in the fall, they will have experience that will enhance their confidence and make them even better students.”
In addition to Cambrelen, other Kiewit representatives joining the Signing Day were: Stacia Buda, equipment services HR manager Steven Curry, equipment services vice president; and Luke Stano, oil, gas & chemical district quality manager.
Penn College President Michael J. Reed was among the college contingent that included faculty and also students' family members.
