What once was a drab storage area in Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Field House is now a functional team room for Wildcat athletics, thanks to staff from General Services.
Carpenters, electricians, painters and plumbers transformed the space, which consisted of concrete walls and flooring with minimal lighting, into a crisp, clean room benefiting student athletes.

Thanks to staff from Penn College's General Services, what once was a drab storage area in the Field House has been transformed into a functional team room to be used by men’s lacrosse, women’s soccer and men’s soccer.
“The area will be occupied by men’s lacrosse, women’s soccer and men’s soccer. It will be utilized as a shared team room by all three teams,” said Scott E. Kennell, director of athletics. “It is set up for watching film, chalk talks and halftime game planning. Prior to the project being completed, our teams did not have a specific space to utilize before or after games and practice.”
General Services spent about two months renovating the room.
“We framed and finished the walls and ran new electrical in the entire space, including new lighting and fire devices. We added a new finished ceiling and new flooring. We also added a projector and screen for the players and coaches. Lastly, we upgraded the plumbing and water heater to improve the laundry area used by athletics,” explained Joseph A. Worth, facilities maintenance manager. “The work our team does is second to none, and it’s very rewarding to know that students will benefit from it.”

Teamwork makes the dream work! Carpenters, electricians, painters and plumbers transformed the space into a crisp, clean room benefiting student athletes.

“Words can’t express how excited our student-athletes were when they first walked into the completed space,” Kennell said. “We can’t thank General Services enough for their hard work and creativity to help create such a premier space for our student-athletes. It will enhance the student-athlete experience for years to come.”

Hard work and creativity teamed up to breathe new life into this former storage space.

Go, Wildcats!
