“We are grateful for the steadfast support from TC Energy to enhance the skills of our mechatronics students,” said Kyle A. Smith, senior executive director of College Relations. “TC Energy understands the value of a Penn College degree and the applied technology education experience that we provide. The company demonstrates a commitment to education and its industry through investments in our programs, which help our graduates emerge as workforce leaders.”
Penn College offers a bachelor’s degree in automation engineering technology: mechatronics and an associate degree in mechatronics technology. Mechatronics integrates electrical, mechanical and computer engineering.
“This grant funding from TC Energy will significantly impact the students’ experience and their future opportunities by allowing us to add updated technology to our program,” said Randall L. Moser, assistant professor of electronics and computer engineering technology. “Our students enter specialty manufacturing fields that require strong knowledge of vision systems and related technologies that span a variety of industries, including energy. This funding will help our students grow their skill sets to meet workforce needs.”
Headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, TC Energy is a leading energy infrastructure company with operations in natural gas, oil and power industries. Its most recent gift to Penn College moves the company to the Visionary Society ($100,000-$499,999) on the school’s Donor Wall.
