Ready for action at the "Remote Control Race Day," hosted recently in the Field House

A “Remote Control Race Day” stirred excitement and participation on a Friday evening in the Field House. The recent gathering was hosted by two clubs: the PCT Remote Control Model Club and the IEEE Student Branch at Penn College.

Racers could bring their own remote-control cars or use one that was provided at the “rookie class” event for entry-level drivers. Participants also had a chance to win a free "RC car."

The PCT Remote Control Model Club isn’t just for cars; the group also experiments with first-person-view drones and offers members access to cool gear for modeling and experimenting.

The IEEE club is part of a global network that includes 1,855 student branches at colleges and universities in 80 countries. Originally known as the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the professional association also boasts thousands of members who are engineers, scientists and allied professionals rooted in electrical and computer sciences, engineering and related disciplines.

Othman Al-rawi (on right) explains the rules to eager racers. He is a robotics & automation student from Lewisburg.

Luke M. Stitt is seen with his Traxxas Slash 2WD with a custom hotrod shell that he painted. The collision repair technology student from New Cumberland says it's the first RC car he received; it was a gift from his father, and Stitt got it when he was in middle school.
