Pennsylvania College of Technology recently announced the winners of its annual wedding cake competition, with first-place honors awarded to a cake topped with a hand-molded weeping cherry tree. The decorator responsible for the intricately detailed cake is Aurora Mercedes LeBlanc, a non-degree student from Williamsport.

The Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania and the PPL Foundation held a free STEAM Lab at Penn College from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, providing more than 250 girls and young women – from kindergarten through 12th grade – with a hands-on look at Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics pursuits while learning and working with Penn College instructors and students.

Delivering a dose of color and curiosity to The Gallery at Penn College are artist Abraham Ferraro’s mailable sculptures and interactive installations. The exhibition, titled “Every Which Way,” will run March 19 through April 18 in the gallery, on the third floor of Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Madigan Library. A closing reception will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Student Activities hosted a 1980s-themed Murder Mystery Dinner in the Thompson Professional Development Center on Saturday, performed by the Oxymorons improvisational comedy troupe from Harrisburg and catering to amateur sleuths and armchair gourmets alike. – Photos by Rachel A. Organizations from across the region came together on Thursday on the Penn College campus to provide fun and educational activities in science, technology, engineering and math for elementary- and middle-school students.

Tiana M. Rawls-White, a culinary arts technology major from Northumberland, captured the 2019 “Penn College Star” title with a prize-winning vocal performance among seven accomplished challengers. Singer Amber L. Way, of Port Matilda, enrolled in applied health studies: occupational therapy assistant concentration, placed second; and mechatronics engineering technology student Kyle B.
