Penn College Greek Life set high academic standards during the Fall 2010 semester, according to Erin M. Datteri, assistant director of student activities for Greek life and leadership. The all-Greek semester grade-point average was 2.720, above the collegewide all-student average of 2.523.

Penn College's Presidential Leadership Program Year One students went on an overnight retreat last weekend in Bucknell University's Cowen Conference Center, spending time in leadership activities specifically focused on the topic of collaboration.

Nine Penn College students, enrolled in the Italy Art and Architecture of Antiquity course, studied in Rome with adjunct faculty member Mark J. Mahosky from Dec. 27-Jan. 5. The students toured the Roman Forum and the Colosseum, and visited Pompeii and Herculaneum, Naples, the Vatican Museum and Necropolis. This is the ninth year for this study-abroad program.

As part of Healthy Weight Week 2011 organized by Healthy Wildcats and Student Health Services, and "Short Courses" offered by Student Activities, Zumba attracted more than 90 Penn College students and staff (women and men) to the Field House on Tuesday night for a taste of Latin-infused fitness and fun. Another chance to try a free Zumba class is offered at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Field House.

A team of two-year students from Penn College's School of Construction and Design Technologies claimed first-place honors at this year's National Association of Home Builders Residential Construction Management Competition held during last weekend's 2011 International Builders Show in Orlando, Fla. The president of Pennsylvania College of Technology has issued a fundraising challenge in support of a scholarship fund established by the Student Government Association at the college. President Davie Jane Gilmour announced that she will provide a dollar-for-dollar match, up to $2,000, if that amount is raised by Penn College student organizations for the Tracy A. Garis Memorial Scholarship.
