New and not-so-new Penn College students ushered in the 2016-17 academic year during Welcome Weekend, the traditional lead-in to the start of the semester.

Welcome to Penn College! With an infinite supply of helpfulness, empathy and expertise, Penn College's Residence Life staff and Resident Assistants – who gathered outside the Breuder Advanced Technology & Health Sciences Center on Thursday – will be among those greeting first-year students and their families as they arrive for Welcome Weekend.

Pennsylvania College of Technology held its Summer Commencement on Saturday at the Community Arts Center in downtown Williamsport. Hashim Abbas Alfulful, of Saudi Arabia, who received a Bachelor of Science degree in plastics and polymer engineering technology, was the student speaker for the 11 a.m. ceremony.

In Fall 2016, Pennsylvania College of Technology will add to its business offerings a minor in financial counseling. Additionally, updates to coursework in accounting majors will prepare graduates to use and build secure accounting information systems for their future employers. The changes continue the college’s trademark responsiveness to community and industry needs.

Links bloom where they're planted! Penn College's busy student Links, crucial liaisons in the orientation process, are wrapping up their traditional (and transitional) summer duties as another academic year draws ever closer. The students have completed a half-dozen two-day Connections sessions and, this week, are holding single-day programs for adult learners and transfer students.
