Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Hospitality will host "A Farewell Tribute to Peter Hellermann," longtime general manager of the school's Le Jeune Chef Restaurant, on Sept. 10. Frederick Frank, president of the award-winning Dr. Konstantin Frank Vinifera Wine Cellars, will be the guest vintner in a fitting tribute to Hellermann as he retires.

Continuing a historic investment in the students who ultimately will bolster the workforce at its dealerships, Caterpillar Inc. recently donated a used track-type tractor to Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Natural Resources Management.

A grant from Sovereign Bank will allow Pennsylvania College of Technology to establish two new permanent collections of books and periodicals in the college's Madigan Library. The $5,000 grant, made through the Sovereign Bank Foundation, will support new collections in business and finance and career development.

A donation of hardware and software from Kepware Technologies will allow students at Pennsylvania College of Technology to be among the few in the country to gain experience on a system that enables the smooth exchange of data between various automated industrial devices and control applications.

Employees who have made donations to Penn College over the past 18 months were the guests of honor at a reception in the Thompson Professional Development Center on Monday. The Institutional Advancement Office hosted the reception to say "Thank you" to employees who have donated to the Annual Fund, the Madigan Library Campaign and other fund-raising initiatives.

Pennsylvania College of Technology has established a new society The Pillar Society to recognize supporters who have included Penn College or the Penn College Foundation in their long-term giving plans. Penn College President Davie Jane Gilmour recently recognized 14 individuals as members of The Pillar Society.

With all of the construction at Pennsylvania College of Technology over the past several years, it might be surprising that a special ceremony would be held to unveil a new wall. But as Penn College President Dr. Davie Jane Gilmour noted, this is no "ordinary" wall.

Pennsylvania College of Technology has received $100,000 through the Caterpillar Excellence Fund, a partnership among the Caterpillar Foundation, participating dealers and schools. There are only three other regional partnerships in the country that were funded at that maximum amount. The Caterpillar Foundation contributed $50,000 and three dealers collectively matched the amount.
