An interactive workshop conceived and co-presented by Ellyn A. Lester, Pennsylvania College of Technology’s assistant dean of construction and architecture, drew a standing-room only crowd of industry leaders at the Construction Management Association of America’s annual convention, held recently in San Francisco.

Stanley G. Boler, a retired Pennsylvania College of Technology faculty member, died Dec. 15 at the age of 78. A funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23, at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home, in Spencer, Indiana. Boler retired from Penn College in 2012 as an associate professor of electronics. He joined the college faculty in 1987.

Santa Claus is waving again to the thousands of visitors experiencing Candy Cane Lane. And it’s not a Christmas miracle. Instead, Santa’s rehabilitation is thanks to an instructor and a pair of automotive restoration students at Pennsylvania College of Technology.

The first “wrapped” vehicle in Penn College’s General Services fleet has rolled off the “production line.” A joint effort of General Services and Public Relations & Marketing, the Toyota Tacoma truck will serve as a marketing tool and information resource as it moves throughout the college’s three campuses and the community.

Pennsylvania College of Technology’s human services & restorative justice major recently observed Restorative Justice Week, an annual international celebration designed to raise awareness of the transformative impact of restorative justice and honor its practitioners and participants. This year’s theme was “The promise of restorative justice in a polarizing world.”

Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Board of Directors on Thursday accepted the audited financial statements for Fiscal Year 2024 and authorized a list of banks to serve as depositories of college funds. The board also heard presentations for the internal Governance Annual Report and an overview of the college’s Army ROTC student experience.

The U.S. Council of the International Association of Emergency Managers has selected William A. Schlosser as the association’s 2024 Emergency Management Educator of the Year. Schlosser is an emergency management and homeland security instructor at Pennsylvania College of Technology. The award was presented at the 72nd IAEM-USA Annual Conference’s President’s Banquet and Awards Ceremony, held recently in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

While helping with a training activity at the Veterans Affairs Pittsburgh Healthcare System, Donnamarie Lovestrand saw more than a decade of inquiry put into practice. That inquiry began in 2011 when Lovestrand, now an associate professor of nursing at Pennsylvania College of Technology, was a staff nurse in the post-anesthesia care unit of Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital at Fort Polk (now Fort Johnson) in Louisiana.

Pennsylvania College of Technology hospitality students recently donated 25 pounds of handmade soap to the Shepherd of the Streets ministry in Williamsport. The ministry helps to provide guidance and counsel, prescription assistance, oral surgery and vision assistance, medical transportation assistance, baby diapers and supplies, and dental hygiene kits to those on the streets confronting fear, hunger, homelessness, unemployability or other difficulties.

State Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn visited Williamsport on Wednesday to celebrate a $649,900 grant to Lycoming County that will support Phase 1 of the development of the Susquehanna River Walk Extension, a recreational resource that will benefit the community, including Pennsylvania College of Technology students and employees.
