Following the final All-College meeting of the 2023-24 academic year, held in the Klump Academic Center Auditorium on Thursday morning, the Penn College community descended on the Keystone Dining Room for food and fellowship at the annual Employee Picnic. The tradition is a timely (and delicious) break in the action-packed, end-of-semester calendar and an opportunity to casually connect with colleagues.

WNEP-TV’s Mackenzie Aucker visited campus to produce a story on Penn College hosting STEMFest, a celebration of engineering and technical careers for middle school students and educators. Auker visited several of the STEMFest sessions, including robotics, civil engineering technology and engineering design.

More than 275 middle school students and teachers, representing 13 schools in 10 counties, visited campus as part of STEMFest, a celebration of engineering and technical careers. Students rotated through STEM-centered, hands-on workshops led by Penn College faculty and staff. Activities ranged from programming robots to creating electrical circuits to constructing popsicle stick bridges.

First responders, detectives and pastry chefs were at work recently during “Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day” at Penn College. The Office of People & Culture invited employees to take part in the national celebration and organized hands-on engagement for children, 10 to 14 years old. A productive day at work was enjoyed by current and future Wildcats!

Penn College’s Black Student Union hosted the college’s third Juneteenth celebration in late April. While the federal holiday – also known as Emancipation Day or Freedom Day – is observed on June 19, the April event allowed the college to celebrate while most students were still on campus.

Among the many end-of-academic-year festivities on the Penn College campus was a carnival, held in the center of campus. Ideal spring weather greeted the guests as they tossed, climbed, laughed and splashed their way through a range of activities.

Exploring the creative journeys and promising career paths of eight graduating seniors in Pennsylvania College of Technology’s graphic design major, a reception was held April 26 for the Graphic Design Student Portfolio Exhibition. The exhibit runs through Friday, May 3, in the gallery located on the third floor of The Madigan Library. The remaining day’s hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Throughout its 19-year history, Pennsylvania College of Technology’s team has crisscrossed the country to compete at Baja SAE. This year, they only must travel a dozen miles from campus to test their skills, a reality that should aid last-minute preparations for the international event. Penn College is hosting Baja SAE for the first time, May 16-19, at its Heavy Equipment Operations Site in Brady Township.

Over 650 students descended on Capitol Eatery in Dauphin Hall last week to partake in a favorite Penn College campus tradition – Midnight Breakfast. Dining Services also presented other tasty delights leading up to finals and free study-break treats. Navigating the end-of-academic-year pressures never tasted so good!

Thanks to the recent Student Government Association Auction, three Penn College students have received Student Leader Legacy Scholarships. The annual SGA Auction raised approximately $3,500, and three students were awarded $1,200 each. Over 70 supporters placed online bids or donated directly to the endowed scholarship fund.
