For more than a century, Pennsylvania College of Technology and its predecessor institutions have adapted to industry needs, so students are prepared to be tomorrow makers upon graduation. That tradition continues with two new baccalaureate degrees: automation engineering technology: mechatronics, and automation engineering technology: robotics and automation.

A total of 275 students have petitioned to graduate following Pennsylvania College of Technology’s summer sessions. A commencement ceremony is set for Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Community Arts Center. The student speaker for the 11 a.m.

The Susquehanna Valley Corvette Club is steadfast in its support of Pennsylvania College of Technology. The club, formed in 2003, has established two funds at the college over the years: a Susquehanna Valley Corvette Club Scholarship begun in 2014 and the Susquehanna Valley Corvette Club Foundation Endowed Scholarship initiated in 2018.

A partnership with Nationwide Insurance Co. has resulted in the loan of six damaged vehicles to Pennsylvania College of Technology’s collision repair labs. The seeds of the agreement were planted a year ago, when the college’s Collision Repair Advisory Committee discussed the shortage of late-model cars for students’ hands-on instruction. A foundation promoting manufacturing careers awarded one-third of its recent scholarships to Pennsylvania College of Technology students. A dozen Penn College students were among 36 nationwide who received manufacturing scholarships from Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs. The scholarships, valued between $1,500 and $2,500, are for Fall 2019. “I couldn’t be prouder,” said David R.

Two weeks of the Injection Molding Processing Workshop offered by Pennsylvania College of Technology and its acclaimed Plastics Innovation & Resource Center attracted a variety of industry professionals to campus. Twenty-eight individuals representing seven states and Puerto Rico attended the workshops that were delivered in separate five-day sessions.

The approved 2019-20 state budget delivers appropriation funding to Pennsylvania College of Technology reflecting its long history of success in producing skilled workers, while leveling the playing field with other publicly funded institutions in the commonwealth, the college’s board chair said Friday.
