A Camp Hill firm has established an endowed scholarship fund targeting students in the heavy construction equipment technology, surveying technology and civil engineering technology majors at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Liberty Excavators Inc. recently presented a check for $25,000 to fully endow the Liberty Excavators Inc. Fund at Penn College.
Donations from six companies have allowed Pennsylvania College of Technology to purchase engineering-related instructional equipment through a grant program administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
The School of Industrial and Engineering Technologies held a camp for 20 ninth- and 10th-grade students June 11-13. Campers were introduced to a variety of engineering technology careers by providing: information on engineering technology careers, hands-on workshops, tours of engineering facilities and an opportunity to network with current Penn College students and faculty.
Tom Little of Beacon Falls, Conn., a graduate of Woodland Regional High School, has been named Penn College's "Student-Athlete of the Week" for Feb. 9-16. A 6-foot-2 junior forward civil engineering student on the men's basketball team, Little scored 14 points and had 10 rebounds in the Wildcats' game against Penn State Abington Feb. 9.
Kyle Klunk, of Hanover, a civil engineering technology major and a freshman point guard on the men's basketball team, has been named Penn College's "Student-Athlete of the Week" for Dec. 1-8. During a game Dec. 1at Penn State Greater Allegheny, Klunk hit a key 3-point basket with 35 seconds remaining to secure the Wildcats' first Penn State University Athletic Conference win of the season.
The Pennsylvania Society of Land Surveyors-Penn College Student Chapter was in action at the Lycoming County Historical Society's Thomas T. Taber Museum earlier this month. Initially. the club wanted to help at the annual "Terror at the Taber" haunted museum just before Halloween, but, because of scheduling conflicts with its anniversary celebrations, the 858 W. Fourth St.
Recently, Steven K. McCoy, coordinator of matriculation and retention for the School of Construction and Design Technologies, and Stacey C. Hampton, coordinator of matriculation and retention for the School of Industrial and Engineering Technologies, participated in the Frederick ACE (Architecture, Construction and Engineering) College Fair held at the Bechtel Corp. in Frederick, Md.
Robert P. Stenerson, a surveying technology major from State College, has been chosen as the Student Government Association's "Student of the Month" for October. Termed an "extremely responsible" member of his campus community, Stenerson is a student member of the Pennsylvania Society of Land Surveyors and president of the PSLS student chapter.
A land-development-engineering company based in Rockville, Md., has established a scholarship fund targeting civil engineering technology students at Pennsylvania College of Technology while continuing to offer a variety of support for students.
A relationship between Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Williamsport Parking Authority that started with a student project has grown to include a new scholarship fund at the college. The Williamsport Parking Authority Board of Directors recently approved the creation of the Williamsport Parking Authority Scholarship fund at Penn College.
