Assorted explorations in the science of brewing were eagerly appraised by industry experts last week in Pennsylvania College of Technology’s brewing & fermentation lab. Ten students graduating with certificates in brewing & fermentation science presented their capstone projects in two evening sessions attended by 15 brewing professionals – four of whom are alumni.

The graphic design talents of four students and seven alumni from Pennsylvania College of Technology have been honored in two prestigious design competitions. Sue A. Kelley, dean of the School of Business, Arts & Sciences at Pennsylvania College of Technology, recently served as a panelist at Penn State Schreyer Honors College’s Connect Alumni Career Day. The career exploration gathering is the largest career-related event offered each year to Schreyer Honors Scholars, giving them the opportunity to network and learn from Schreyer alumni.

“It was nice to find a tiny gift. It made my day, honestly,” said Natalie K. Lincalis, a graphic design student from Muncy. “I was so grateful to find one,” shared Sarah R. Yoder, coordinator of admissions operations. “They are beautiful!” Such were the reactions to discovering “feathered friends” hidden in nooks and crannies, scattered across the Pennsylvania College of Technology campus.

During Child Abuse Prevention Month in April, “pinwheel gardens” have been popping up around the country in an effort to bring awareness to child abuse, and a local display of pinwheels recently arose in a field next to the Old Lycoming Township Volunteer Fire Co.

Through an on-campus Volunteer Income Tax Assistance site, students in Pennsylvania College of Technology’s accounting major and the business administration: banking & finance major helped members of the Greater Williamsport community to file 195 tax returns, with a total of $238,036 in federal tax refunds and $7,135 in state tax refunds.
