Students in the Grand Pastry Display course placed a capstone on their baking & pastry arts studies Friday with a display that showed off the skills they’ve learned throughout their Penn College career, including the new skills of planning and preparing a pastry buffet.

During a 16-day experience in Italy, 10 Pennsylvania College of Technology students studied the country’s cuisine and hospitality culture through classes with world-class chefs and visits to the farms and factories where well-loved ingredients are produced.

Students at Pennsylvania College of Technology who spent eight weeks learning about sustainable food systems – including visits to area farms that make the most of their resources – wrapped up their learning with another sustainability concept: food security. The students, all studying culinary arts, learned how they can be a link in the chain that connects food with those who need it.

Bachelor’s degree nursing students are ready to hit the road. The group, enrolled in the course Global Healthcare Explorations, plans to depart campus late Friday evening for a journey to the village of Nueva Santa Rosa, Guatemala. Once there, they will join the Glen Falls (New York) Medical Mission team to set up and run a weeklong medical clinic in the medically underserved region.
