Despite a year of continuing challenges, donors to Pennsylvania College of Technology were honored Monday evening for unwavering support that ignited a record-setting year for institutional fundraising.

The Society of Plastics Engineers Foundation has honored three Pennsylvania College of Technology students and one recent graduate with scholarships. Morgan T. Bartholomew, of Etters, and Andrew B. Folk, of Bernville, each received $1,500 general scholarships, and Trent D. Longenberger, of Bloomsburg, was awarded the $3,000 Blow Molding Carrie Fox Solin Scholarship.

Pennsylvania College of Technology baking and pastry arts faculty member Chef Charles R. Niedermyer II recently presented an education session for Retail Confectioners International’s 2021 Annual Convention & Industry Expo.

The final destination was always clear for Christian Peters, but the journey to get there was paved in Williamsport.

Natalie J. Rhoades is thankful that Pennsylvania College of Technology allowed her to branch out and become what she was meant to be. Her employer is also grateful. The 2020 graduate from Weedville designed the SensorScan DHT-400 ultrasonic transducer, recently brought to market by Sensor Networks Inc. for the oil and gas and power generation industries.

Campuswide ingenuity and the generosity of a longtime supporter have produced the Fish Real Estate Leadership Challenge Course at Penn College. Architecture and concrete science students; General Services personnel; and Rob Cooley, associate professor of anthropology/environmental science, played vital roles in developing and building the course.

When told that he would be moving from Vietnam to the United States, Long H. Nguyen embraced the adventure as a second chance at life. More than 13 years later, it’s obvious the Pennsylvania College of Technology graduate has taken full advantage of that precious opportunity.

Members of the Penn College family are invited to participate in a survey about the ongoing national search for the successor to President Davie Jane Gilmour, who announced her retirement plans in May. The brief survey will solicit confidential input from students, faculty/staff, alumni, parents, administrators, board members and the community to aid the search committee's mission.
