Pennsylvania College of Technology's Children's Learning Center has received a Keystone Stars Merit Award of $49,570 for 2010-11. The center uses the funds for staff development, the purchase of toys and furniture for the children, accreditation-related expenses, special health and nutrition activities, and family events.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's Residence Life Office salutes its most praiseworthy students and programs from the start of the spring semester. Chosen as the Resident Assistant of the Month for January/February was Dauphin Hall's Stephania Karoullas, a dental hygiene major from Landisville. "Stephanie can be relied on for tasks above and beyond her normal duties,"staff wrote.

A junior in Pennsylvania College of Technology's four-year aviation maintenance technology major has been awarded a $2,000 scholarship from the Aircraft Electronics Association. Terrence A. Heim, of Malvern, on track to graduate in May 2012 from the college's School of Transportation Technology, will receive the Garmin Scholarship during the 2011-12 academic year.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus, located just east of Wellsboro, will host an open house on Monday, April 18, for those interested in nursing as a career. The event, to be offered from 5 to 7 p.m., will feature information sessions about the application process, tuition and financial aid.

A March 31 concert on Pennsylvania College of Technology's main campus in Williamsport will benefit a scholarship fund memorializing a dental hygiene major and student leader. The band Parlance will headline the concert, which is sponsored by Campus Crusade for Christ. It will be held at 7 p.m. on the lawn outside the college's Thompson Professional Development Center.

Penn College junior Skylar Gingrich, of Lititz, was named the Penn State University Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week for theperiod ending March 20. Gingrich hit .417 (5 for 12) in a 5-1 week. He notched 10 RBIs and had two home runs. His slugging percentage for the week was 1.000 and he had a .650 on-base percentage. This is Gingrich's first PSUAC honor this season.

Nearly 110 employers were at Penn College's Career Fair on Tuesday, visiting main campus and the Schneebeli Earth Science Center to offer students and alumni an incredible networking opportunity for more than 1,250 full- and part-time jobs and internships. Alumnus Shawn Sidey, who graduated in 1996 with degrees in food and hospitality management and in culinary arts, returned to campus Monday to present to classes in the School of Hospitality. Sidey, roasting supervisor for the Starbucks plant in York, offered demonstrations and coffee tastings and talked with students about Starbucks, his work there and how his career has progressed.

Penn College sophomore Amanda N. Baney, of Williamsport, was named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association's softball Player of the Week. Baney led the Lady Wildcats to a 2-0 week, hitting .571 (4 for 7) with two home runs and six RBIs. She had a slugging percentage of 1.429 and an on-base percentage of .625.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Construction and Design Technologies hosted architecture students from The Pennsylvania State University on Monday, as masonry students schooled the University Park contingent in the hands-on consequences of building design.
