Pennsylvania College of Technology students again are volunteering their time to help qualified individuals as they prepare their 2013 income tax returns.

Switchfoot, a 2011 Grammy Award winner for Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album, continued its month-old winter tour with a Thursday gig at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Marking the college's yearlong centennial – and the recent release of its "Fading West" album – the quintet was joined by the Kopecky Family Band for a performance in the college's Bardo Gymnasium.

The Pennsylvania College of Technology Board of Directors on Thursday authorized policy and procedure revisions related to the investment of college funds. The updates include revising benchmarks to reflect current investment strategies, such as limited, controlled use of higher-yielding fixed-income instruments.

Jessica A. Long, a student in Pennsylvania College of Technology’s health information technology major, was named a 2013 Merit Scholarship recipient by the American Health Information Management Association Foundation. Mopar Muscle Penn College's acquisition of a 1967 Dodge Dart for the School of Transportation & Natural Resources Technologies has been detailed in the April 2014 issue of Mopar Muscle, now on newsstand shelves and online. The article was written by Randy Bolig, the magazine's editor, in cooperation with assistant automotive professor Chris Holley, who led him on a campus tour  in July.

Mount Carmel Area School District is using Pennsylvania College of Technology videos to complement the programming offered on its high school’s student-operated television station, WKMCTV. Channel 13 on Service Electric Cable, WKMCTV serves Mount Carmel, Shamokin, Southern Columbia and parts of Central Columbia, Bloomsburg and Line Mountain school districts.

On March 6, the public is invited to view “Destination Wedding”-themed cakes as part of a cake competition for Pennsylvania College of Technology students. Eight students enrolled in an advanced-level cake decorating course spend about 18 hours of class time on their three-tiered, fondant-covered cakes.

A scholarship has been established by Volkswagen of America Inc. and the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation/Automotive Youth Educational System in memory of a Pennsylvania College of Technology automotive technology alumnus. Zachary C. Teter, who graduated in August 2011 with an associate degree, was killed in a March 19 vehicle accident in Schuylkill County.

Pennsylvania College of Technology will host a Science Festival on Tuesday, Feb. 25, sponsored by the college and Technology Futures of North Central PA. The event, scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Penn College Field House, provides a variety of fun, hands-on math and science demonstrations geared toward elementary and middle school students, as well as their families.
