Kyle A. Smith has been appointed executive director of the Pennsylvania College of Technology Foundation. Established in 1981, the Penn College Foundation is a nonprofit organization that seeks to secure financial and other support for the college. Eight students from the widest variety of academic majors ever to represent Pennsylvania College of Technology at the National Leadership and Skills Conference returned home with medals – including first-time successes in three competitive areas.

Pennsylvania College of Technology graduate Christopher C. Rutledge, a collegiate soccer player and all-around sports enthusiast, chose his degree without imagining that it would lead to work that so closely relates to his lifelong pastime, let alone that his first full-time job would be with his favorite NFL team.

Pennsylvania College of Technology President Davie Jane Gilmour has been appointed vice chair of President’s Council for the North Eastern Athletic Conference. A dozen of Penn College’s athletic teams compete in the NEAC, and Gilmour’s work with the council has included service on its committees for strategic planning and sportsmanship.

The 31st annual Penn College Foundation Golf Classic, partially washed out by rain earlier this month, has been rescheduled. The tournament – which has helped to fund nearly 600 student scholarships – and dinner will be held July 17 at the Williamsport Country Club.

Michael R. Triassi, Le Jeune Chef’s director of sales and restaurant operations, receives a silver Reader’s Choice Award from Becky Fitzwater, an advertising representative for the Milton Standard-Journal. For the second year, Le Jeune Chef Restaurant has received silver honors in the Milton Standard-Journal’s annual Reader’s Choice Awards.

WNEP on campus Newswatch 16's Kristina Papa stopped by the Penn College Field House for Friday's SMART Girls Showcase, the culminating event of the Science and Math in Real-world Technologies summer program. Papa interviewed Tanya Berfield, manager of college transitions, and some of the campers, whose weeklong adventures included career exploration and a Quadcopter Challenge.
