A woman enrolled in the Practical Nursing Program at Penn College's North Campus has died. Mary J. Pond, 52, of Mansfield, died unexpectedly Thursday, Jan. 11, at her home. The Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, handled arrangements. Burial was in Portage Township Cemetery, Gardeau. Penn College flagswere lowered to half-staff in tribute.

State Sen. Jake Corman, a 1990 graduate of Penn College, was the guest speaker for Thursday's inaugural Pennsylvania Farm Show alumni reception in Harrisburg. Corman shared his thoughts on issues under consideration in the state Legislature, and he and his fellow alumni enjoyed meeting and greeting one another over hors d' oeuvres. Penn College's School of Industrial and Engineering Technologies put its stamp on a weeklong series of Pennsylvania Farm Show appearances, providing the public with a popular, hands-on look at the college's "degrees that work." New laboratories for Pennsylvania College of Technology's electronics and computer engineering technologies department are taking shape in the college's Center for Business and Workforce Development, currently under construction between Vine Avenue and West Fourth Street. The building and its electronics labs are scheduled to open in time for the Fall 2007 semester.

Representatives of Penn College's School of Natural Resources Management joined alumni relations and admissions staff at the Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg on Wednesday. The "Horticulture Wheel of Fortune" was very popular with youngsters, who would spin the wheel to identify the topic (soil, botany, landscaping, etc.) on which they would be asked a question.

The Plastics Manufacturing Center at Pennsylvania College of Technology has acquired a Datapaq Rotomolding Telemetry System to help its Rotational Molding Center of Excellence advance the rotational molding process industry.
