Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Penn College IEEE (originally the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Student Branch hosted the 2008 IEEE Region 2 Student Activities Conference on April 8 and have announced the results of the event's competitions.

Williamsport − and Pennsylvania College of Technology's Community Arts Center − have been selected as the venue for the 2008 Governor's Awards for the Arts on Nov. 12. The announcement was made Thursday afternoon at the Arts Center by Judge Marjorie O. Rendell, Pennsylvania's First Lady, who will serve as emcee for the ceremonies.

Ten members and two advisers of the Earth Smart club spent Tuesday afternoon cleaning a section of Northway Road in Loyalsock Township. This is the club's ninth year cleaning that portion of road. The club cleans the roadway twice a year once in the fall semester and again in spring.

The 2008 Student Government Association Executive Board elections are officially over and the results are in. A record-breaking 813 votes were cast, an 11-percent voter turnout. The success of this election was attributed to the competition for the offices of president, vice president of public relations and vice president of finance.

Gifted students from South Williamsport Area School District, continuing their interviews with strong women leaders in the community, visited with Penn College President Davie Jane Gilmour on Thursday. The group four sixth-graders, a fifth-grader and a fourth-grader was accompanied by Lou Ann B. Zeigler, school counselor and gifted support teacher.

The Energy Conservation Subcommittee of the Governance Facilities Committee will host a series ofrelevant discussions in observance of Environmental Awareness Week (April 21-24). Each day's program will take place between noonand 1 p.m. Monday's presentation will be held in CC, Room 164.
