Pennsylvania College of Technology recently presented student achievement awards to its May 2008 graduates. More than 1,000 students petitioned to graduate at the conclusion of the Spring 2008 semester. Commencement ceremonies were held May 16-17 at the Community Arts Center, Williamsport.
One national champion, four All-Americans, six conference champions and three conference runners-up: it has been one of the greatest years ever for Pennsylvania College of Technology athletic teams, which collectively won 207 of 293 games, a .706 winning percentage.
The Gallery at Penn College, on the third floor of the college's Madigan Library, is hosting "Searching for Creativity," a collection of works by Fred Gilmour, through June 22. An opening reception for the exhibit with a talk by the artist was held Tuesday evening. With the exception of the holiday weekend, gallery hours are 1-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, 2-8 p.m.
Congratulations to the following student leaders who have been selected as Summer Resident Assistants and Summer Conference Assistants. Summer Resident Assistants are paraprofessional staff members who are friendly, helpful upper-class students who live just around the corner and make life in the summer residence halls (The Village Apartments) a little easier.
In its strongest national archery showing in a decade, Pennsylvania College of Technology won a collegiate team championship, had four All-Americans and placed fourth overall during the U.S. Intercollegiate Archery Championships May 15-18 in Atlantic City , N.J.

Benjamin J. Campana, a plastics and polymer engineering technology student from Salladasburg, took on the venture as part of his senior project.
Students from 12 high schools triple the number on hand for last year's inaugural event gathered on campus Tuesday for the second annual Fuel Cell Challenge, piloting vehicles powered by the separation of water into hydrogen and oxygen.
A Pennsylvania College of Technology associate professor of mass communications recently earned honors for his work with an area National Public Radio affiliate. WVIA-FM and WVYA-FM host more than 100 hours of locally produced content each week. Among those contributing to local content is Brad L. Nason, who teaches courses in radio broadcasting at Penn College.
Students from six high schools attended "The Penn College Plastics Experience" on May 15. Students from Danville, Elizabethtown, Line Mountain, Loyalsock and Milton high schools and Watsontown Christian Academy attended workshops in the college's plastics laboratories, led by Penn College students.
