The seventh annual Computer Fair for regional middle- and high-school students, sponsored by BlaST Intermediate Unit 17, was held Wednesday and Thursday in Penn's Inn (CC, second floor).
A campus volleyball rivalry resumed in Bardo Gym on Wednesday night, asthe student team of Gavin Mock, Adam Dumm, Joel Reese, Amanda Sherry, Ty Holland and Alexandra Davis took on the staff/faculty squad of Daniel Warner, Mark Dougherty, Jim Cunningham, Elliott Strickland Jr, Amber Dreese, Kimberly Bolig and Daniel Bennett.
A team of Penn College students the winners in a recent five-on-five intramural competition traveled to Lewisburg on Monday for a Final Four Basketball Tournament with Susquehanna, Bloomsburg and (host) Bucknell universities. A recent donation from a branch of the nation's largest full-service landscaping firm helped Pennsylvania College of Technology students build a walkway to the conifer garden at the college's School of Natural Resources Management.
The Gallery at Penn College, on the third floor of Pennsylvania College of Technology's Madigan Library, will host artist-in-residence Miguel Tio on campus April 21-24. While on campus, the painter will conduct workshops for children and staff of the college's Children's Learning Center and students in the early childhood education major, as well as free public sessions.
Penn College hosted a reception Tuesday for students, alumni, faculty and staff who have served in the military, an event highlighted by dedication of a college banner displayed at Forward Operating Base Mehtar Lam in Afghanistan at the request of student Robert A. Miller during his service there.
Students remained on holiday break Monday, but Penn College's main campus was abuzz with varied construction activity on their behalf. The college's $45.27 million Stage X Building Program includes the new Dauphin Hall residential area on the west end, which will provide housing for about 250 students.
Through the end of April, Le Jeune Chef Restaurant is hosting a display of Susquehanna Life magazine covers.
