The family of a former Pennsylvania College of Technology student who died in a traffic accident in 2005 has established a scholarship fund at the college in his memory. The Penn College Foundation has received a donation to establish an endowment for the Joshua R. Geary Memorial Scholarship. The endowment is expected to produce $2,000 in annual awards.
Pennsylvania College of Technology continues to support students who have served their country in the armed forces. The Financial Aid Office at Penn College recently hired three veterans as U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Work-Study Program students.
The look on the faces of his players may have reflected defeat Tuesday night, but Pennsylvania College of Technology men's basketball coach Gene Bruno didn't see it that way. "I can't be more proud of their accomplishments this season. There is a lot to be proud of,"he said.
Pennsylvania College of Technology hosted its spring Visiting Chef Series from Feb. 17-19, welcoming Chef DeJuan Roy, executive chef of 95 Cordova at the historic Casa Monica Hotel in St. Augustine, Fla. A "Cure the Blues Jazz Fest," sponsored by Penn College's Student Activities Office in conjunction with Black History Month, was held from 2-9 p.m. Saturday in the Field House. About 135 people heard a selection of jazz and blues performances by Blue Magnolia, The Chuck Lambert Band, Greg Burgess and Andy Seal, The Ann Kerstetter Band and Project Natale.
Five Pennsylvania College of Technology faculty members will conduct a series of computer-safety presentations in March and April at Williamsport's Curtin Middle School. "Today, more than ever before, the Internet and various computer applications allow for data to be broadcast instantly throughout the world," said Bradley M.
Baseball/softball clinics and a basketball camp are among the activities to be held on Pennsylvania College of Technology's main campus in the coming weeks. The college and Elite American Baseball Academy will present baseball and softball clinics, open to boys and girls ages 8 to 18, on Saturday, Feb. 27, at the FIeld House. Clinic hours will be 9 a.m.-1 p.m. for baseball and 2-6 p.m.
